The Iconic Concert - The Fierce and the Ugly Review (June 17, 2022)

I had the chance to watch the recent concert of Sharon Cuneta and Regine Velasquez dubbed, "Iconic". This is the second offering of the said concert which was originally staged last October 2019 at Smart Araneta Coliseum. The recent 2-night concert was held at the Marriott Grand Ballroom at Resorts World Manila (RWM), June 17 (Friday) and 18 (Saturday).

Iconic Concert - June 17 & 18, 2022

"THE FIERCE"

• Vaccination card is required upon entry (IMPORTANT!)
• To start with, both artists are icons in their own right. Their mere presence on stage is a delight to the fans. No argument!
• Musical arrangements of the concert is superb! Headed by Louie Ocampo and Raul Mitra
• Both Regine and Sharon were both wearing stunning gowns during the first night. Kudos to the designers!
• Watching the concert of Iconic made me realised that the songs of Cuneta are really "timeless". Most of her songs were originally released 20 years ago and amazingly still with us as we speak
• Show lasted for 2 hours. Acceptable and considered an average length for a local concert
• Spectacular segments are the following: (1) Movie theme songs of Sharon Cuneta (2) Moira medley and my personal favorite (3) Probinsyano OST

"THE UGLY"

• Audience seats lay-out is not conducive for concert viewing. Too difficult to see from the back area. There's no elevation to have a clear view of the stage. Ushers also are unable to efficiently guide the audience to their proper seat numbers. This appeared to be chaotic! Major eyesore!
• Some segments of the concert appears to me as a "rehearsal"  Both artists had pitch and timing hitches. Not once but quite a number really. They instead cracked a joke about the mistake to make it light. But in reality, it's disappointing really! We expect a LOT!  (Click here for sample)
• Ticket prices are too expensive (exaggerated) considering we came from pandemic and trying to put some normalcy to our lives. Some consideration please to the viewing public:
• SVIP Zone 1 is P15,470 
• SVIP Zone 2 is P14,365 
• SVIP Zone 3 is P13,260
• SVIP Zone 4 is P12,155
• Gold Zone is P8,300
• Silver is P5,550
• Bronze is P2,800

The Philippine leg of The Iconic COncert is done (for now) and is scheduled to be staged at the US starting at Jul 17 in Pasadena, California.
