The Fierce & Ugly Review: Ang Huling El Bimbo 2023 #AHEB

There are so many reasons why we should all watch the latest offering of "Ang Huling El Bimbo, The Musical 2023 (AHEB) at The Newport World Resorts. The famous musical, written by Dingdong Novenario, first premiered on July 20, 2018 at the same venue. While a second production was held last 2019 with a fresh set of casts, and ran from March 1 - April 6, 2019.

"The Huling El Bimbo" features at least 40 of the hit songs of Filipino iconic band, Eraserheads; such as: Alapaap, Toyang, Pare Ko, Ligaya, With A Smile, and the title song, Ang Huling EL Bimbo to name a few.

AHEB 2023 features the following casts: Gab Pangilinan (as young Joy), Anthony Rosaldo (Young Hector), Paw Castillo (Young Emman), Topper Febragas (young Anthony), Gian Magdangal (Hector), Bullet Damas (Emman), Nino Alehjandro (Anthony), Shiela Francisco (Tiya Dely), Jami Wilson (Arturo Banlaoi) and Katrine Sunga (as Joy).

Let's start talking about the "Fierce & the Ugly.

The Fierce:

  • Production was all on point musically! No one under or over performed. AHEB consists of tenured & seasoned stage actors. It's the perfect production, really
  • The production all brought their A-game & had the right emotions for the scenes
  • The stage is actually a level up of the first production help last 2018 and the second on 2019
The Ugly: 
  • The choreography could do a little bit of "cleaning up". There were scenes (particularly during the early scenes) that were messy to look at from a far. Nothing a rehearsal can polish
  • It happens to the best of us! Even daughter of Joy, Ligaya, called Emman as Anthony. She missed the mark and this totally impacted the scene
Ang Huling El Bimbo will run until July 2023 and stages 2 regular show every Friday & Saturday at 8PM while matinee i at 3PM for Saturdays & Sundays.
