PinakBest of Sen. Imee Marcos - A Collection of Rich Ilocos Cuisine & Legacy

For a food enthusiast and  frustrated chef myself, writing about food and cookbook is a real satisfaction. That's why when I was invited to attend the presscon of "PinakBest", I immediately said, of course!

PinakBest Cookbook of Sen Imee Marcos

The said event was held yesterday, Dec 14, 4:00PM,  via Zoom due to the hectic schedule of the author. In fact, during the actual media launch, she admitted that she had to jump in to her senate meeting after the book launch. The author we are referring to is no other than, Senator Imee Marcos, who is so candid and friendly , as usual, during the Zoom launch.

PinakBest

Personally, I think it's really high time to write about an in depth book that talks about Ilocos cuisine. That's why the launch of "PinakBest" is an ideal and recommended gift to all chef or foodie out there.

During the lunch, Sen. Imee Marcos admitted she was quite a rebellious kid growing up, " “I must have been a really naughty kid because I was always punished to the kitchen every day,” the senator shared.

The senator/book author also recalls that there's always some festivity in the Marcos home and they have to host and serve magnitude of food to guests. Growing up in a family exposed us to various gatherings, the senator credits her mother Imelda as the one who really taught them how to celebrate and enjoy food.

Sen. Imee Marcos & Reggie Aspiras

PinakBest cookbook of Sen Imee Marcos is book collaboration with close family friend, Ms. Reggie Aspiras, who wrote notes in the cookbook.

There are over 90 rich recipes in "PinakBest", all detailed with simple instructions to follow. Even kitchen newbies will be able to cope and follow. Not to mention photos we will surely enjoy with the food. Some bonus rare Marcos photos are also shared in the cookbook.

So, better head to the nearest book store or you can also order online to purchase "PinakBest". It's surely a threat for anyone to receive this Christmas season.

Merry Christmas! Let's all enjoy the Holidays and the good Filipino food.

Moira Dela Torre for Maria Clara Sagria Virgin

T he media launch today we attended is extra special for me. It's quite special in a sense it brings back childhood memories of a favourite drink in my family,  Maria Clara Sangria.  Growing up, I was not allowed to try and drink it because of the alcohol content of the drink. But that's all in the past now. Today, we witnessed that   Distileria Limtuaco and Co. Inc. launches a non-alcoholic drink called, "Maria Clara Sangria Virgin".
