In a career span of over 40 years in the music industry, we can only anticipate that the creative juices from the tank of Gary V is almost dry. They have probably done and staged every concept there is.
"Gary Back at the Museum" |
But we were so wrong!
Show started on time (usual to Gary's concerts), 8:00 PM of August 04, and Kai Buizon opened the show with her bubbly songs: "Kaiigan Lang", "Pizza Guy" and "The Meadow". She may be young and timid-looking but full of promises to reach heights.
Then came the main man. The artist better known as "Mr. Pure Energy".
Gary V |
The opening song of "Gary Back at the Museum", is his upbeat hit from 1990, "Mahal Na Mahal", a cut from the music album Faces of Love. Followed by "You Got Me Working" from the album simply called Gary in 1983
As I meticulously observed the concert production of "Gary Back at the Museum", there are 2 outstanding elements of the show that stood out! First of is the use of lights to add drama and emotions with every beat of the drum. The unison is perfect. It resonates anticipation and thrill.
But what really amazes me is how they sync archive videos of Gary V with his live performance. We can only imagine the research and technical work that were devoted to this element to give it the perfect match.
Gary V |
We had he chance to chat with Gary's eldest so, Paolo Valenciano, who happens to be the director of the show.
"I had to review and edit more than 92 archive videos for the show and make sure live performance sync. up", shared by Paolo.
Kiana Valenciano also flew in from the US just to join the show. Her song, "Heartbeat One Me" has its international sound to it that blew us away!
And I give this to the director! This for me is the highlight and for sure what stood out for me in terms of production value. Congratulations!
Hits after hits after hits of Gary were. showcased during the night. Some of my personal favourites are "Hang On", "Gaya Ng Dati" and "Take Me Out of the Dark. One night is simply not enough to celebrate his Gary's music.
Overall, to describe that the first night of "Gary Back at the Museum" is a success would be an understatement. When we asked prior to start of the show what else could Gary show on stage that we have not seen? The answer is clearly given to us as the show progress and as Gary start of dance the night away with his signature choreography.
To close this review, I'd like to share a photo how intimate & frantic the audience were during the first night. As a recap tonight, allow me to thank you Gary V for your wonderful music. Thanks you for opening up your heart and soul to us through your words and melodies. We are grew up with your songs and we cannot wait to grow older with them.
Happy birthday, Gary!
