Sunshine Cruz Enjoys Comic Stint in Good Will Season 2

Sunshine Cruz takes a breather from her usual slew of drama roles as she guests in the Net25 sitcom, Good Will, currently on its 2nd season.

This time, the acclaimed actress plays Chef Liwanag, the smart-alecky resident cook of WillGood resort, whose wisecracks and acerbic humor make her click with the Good Will barkada comprised of David Chua, Devon Seron, Raymond Bagatsing, Smokey Manalogo, James Caraan, Ryan Rems, Kat Galang, and guest stars Meg Imperial, Regine Angeles and Samantha Lopez.

It’s a case of life imitating art for the mestiza actress who is actually a certified chef in real life. “It’s always fun to do comedy guestings,” she exclaims. “Fun and light, plus I’ve worked with most of the cast before, so there’s that element of familiarity already.”

It’s also a timely reunion for Shine and Good Will director Ian Loreños, who directed the top-rating GMA-7 teleserye Mano Po Legacy: The Family Fortune, which aired January 2022.

“I’m also pleasantly surprised with Direk Ian’s versatility,” she adds. “It’s not easy switching from directing drama to directing a sitcom. The latter requires faster pacing, and more intricate camera work.”

Meanwhile, Lloyd Patawad (David Chua) gets to know the truth behind the saying “the best way to a man’s heart is through his stomach” as his love interest, Sarah (Devon Seron) and Tricia (Meg Imperial) try to outdo each other via a cooking showdown. Who will eventually win Lloyd’s heart?

“It’s more fast-paced now, in terms of pacing, editing, and even the dialogues,” shares David, who feels more confident now after hurdling Season 1’s expected ‘birth pains.’
